Os festivais Andanças e La Sierra. Análise dos seus participantes

Abstract

The festivals have had a historical journey throughout humanity, considered fundamental in the demonstration and conservation of the various traditions that pass from generation to generation. This type of event is also an important strategyto promoting destinations, thus enhancing the tourist, cultural and economic development of the regions. The main objective of this study was to analyse the participants of two festivals: Andanças (Portugal) and La Sierra (Spain), consideringthe typologies of cultural and creative tourist. 532 questionnaires were validated, applied to the participants of the respective events (Andanças, n=297, and La Sierra, n=235). Statistical analysis of measures of central tendency (mean, median), and dispersion (standard deviation) showed that most of the participants are female, aged between 21 and 30, with higher educational qualifications, and household monthly income above €1000. These results show that the participants of the events in studies present the characteristics of cultural tourist. It was also found that the participants of Andanças, compared to the participants of La Sierra, have more evident characteristics of creative tourist. This study can contribute to a better understanding of tourists who practice cultural tourism and creative tourism, especially tourists who select events, such as performing arts festivals, to enrich their touristic experiences.
