El Colegio Claret de Sevilla: arquitectura y ciudad, 1940-2011

Abstract

Historically, the southern area of Seville has been an area of the city with great relevance due to the strategic situation it occupied with respect to the river and the industrial activities that were carried out there. As a consequence of this series of activities, the city began a process of growth and clogging of this entire urban area. In this process of growth of the city, an urban fabric was formed that has evolved over the years, until it turned out to be the complex fabric that we know today. From this process of shaping the southern area of Seville, dialectics and variations a rose in many of its points, such as the block of the current Claret College and the built volume of said college itself. This work aims to value the role that these buildings, notable examples of school architecture in their respective times, played in shaping the structure of the city and the urban landscape. Through the study and critical analysis of these complexes, the work aims to contribute toits value as a focal point of development whose role is still current, providing a new point of view in relation to the architectural and urban understanding of its main pieces.

Históricamente la zona sur de Sevilla ha sido un ámbito de la ciudad con una gran relevancia debido a la situación estratégica que ocupaba con respecto al río y a las actividades industriales que allí se realizaban. Como consecuencia de esta serie de actividades, la ciudad inició un proceso de crecimiento y colmatación de todo este ámbito urbano. En este proceso de crecimiento de la ciudad, se fue conformando un tejido urbano que ha ido evolucionando a lo largo del tiempo, hasta resultar la trama compleja que conocemos adía de hoy. De este proceso de conformación de la zona sur de Sevilla surgieron dialécticas y variaciones en muchos de sus puntos, como es la manzana del actual colegio Claret y el propio volumen construido de dicho colegio. El presente trabajo pretende poner en valor el papel que estos edificios, notables ejemplos de arquitectura escolar en sus respectivas épocas, jugaron en la conformación de la estructura de la ciudad y el paisaje urbano. A través del estudio y análisis crítico de estos complejos, el trabajo pretende contribuir a supuesta en valor como punto focal de desarrollo cuyo papel aun esta vigente, aportando un nuevo punto de vista en relación al entendimiento arquitectónico y urbano de sus piezas principales.
