dc.description.abstract | The world of automation is increasingly present in all areas of life. We find it in such routine tasks as setting up
a dishwasher program, setting an alarm in the oven, activating the air conditioning of our car and even when
ordering food in restaurants.
Everyone has been reached by the technological revolution, from the young to the old. For this reason, it is
essential to develop intuitive and simple interfaces that allow even the most inexperienced to interact with the
technological world. It is what is known as HMI or Human Machine Interface.
These interfaces have been developed for several decades. Although its origin is questionable, the first examples
could be traced back to the switches, or the rewind button. In the 1960s, with the invention of the PLC, they took
on a fundamental role in the industry. It became a major tool that operators should know how to handle, and
since then it has been further developed and improved to the present day.
In this work a HMI display will be programmed, to direct the control of a system of 4 coupled tanks. The control
will be carried out by a PLC and consists of maintaining the water level of the tanks in the reference set for each
one. It will be possible to configure which tanks to control, choosing between an individual tank, a column, or
the two lower tanks. The interface will be programmed on a SIEMENS screen directly connected to the PLC,
as well as on the computer’s own screen, which will allow remote control of the plant. For this purpose, use will
be made of the TIA Portal software and the elements provided by the Laboratory of the Department of Systems
Engineering and Automatic, which will allow the connection of the devices.
Finally, a detailed guide on the programming of the HMI implemented on both the siemens touch screen and
the computer itself will be developed. | es |
