dc.description.abstract | Electrical substations are fundamental to generating plants, and particularly in the specific case
of photovoltaic solar plants, the topic of this project. It depends on them that the energy that is
generated in the plant reaches the transmission network in optimal conditions. From here it is
passed through the power transformer, which will be the installation's main equipment, and the
voltage will be raised from lower values (20 kV) , up until a point where it can be connected to
the transmission network.
This project will address the adjustments of the protections that will control the substation that
outputs the "Don Rodrigo II" photovoltaic solar plant. The protections of the line connecting the
substation with the transmission network in the “Don Rodrigo” substation, owned by Endesa, will
also be taken into account, in addition to the adjustments for the protections of the medium voltage
lines that connect the photovoltaic plant with the “Don Rodrigo II” substation.
The project will have two introductory chapters; The first (Chapter 3) will outline the main
characteristics of all the equipment that make up the system, from the photovoltaic plant
(transformers, medium voltage lines, inverters, etc.), the electrical substation (power transformer,
switch, disconnector , medium voltage cells, current and voltage transformers for measurement,
etc.), to the high voltage line with the characteristics of the conductors and the towers that support
them. Furthermore, it will take into account the characteristics of the current and voltage
transformers of the remote position in the “Don Rodrigo” substation.
The second introductory chapter (Chapter 4) will outline the protection functions that will be used
in each part of the system, for each of the relays that are used, outlining why they are used and
the purpose each of them serve.
Then, in Chapter 5, the fundamental calculations will be set out to allow for adjustment of the
protections, such as the short-circuit calculations, both maximum and minimum, polyphase and
single-phase. This will serve to allow for a recognition of the poorest conditions in which the
system can find itself and an understanding of how to configure the protections to deal with these
situations.
In Chapter 6, as part of the end of the development of the project and main chapter, the protection
functions will be adjusted from the lowest voltage levels to the highest. This is based on criteria
that allows for a safe installation at all times, whilst also maintaining coordination and selectivity
amongst all functions. | es |
