Influencia de la restitución de meandros en las inundaciones producidas por el río Genil aguas arriba de Écija

Abstract

Este trabajo consiste en el estudio de la restitución de meandros y las afecciones que pueda tener respecto de las inundaciones que se dan en una zona actualmente. Para ello, se ha estudiado un tramo del río Genil, ubicado aguas arriba de Écija, donde hasta 8 meandros han quedado desconectados del cauce principal por diversos motivos (entre ellos la realización de una corta). Se ha modelizado el cauce del río Genil equivalente al año 1956 (donde se encuentran activos estos meandros), siendo éste la referencia más antigua que se dispone, y se ha empleado para realizar un estudio de inundación de los primeros 20 kilómetros de río Genil aguas arriba de Écija con la topografía actual. De la misma manera, se ha realizado un estudio equivalente con la situación actual en esa zona para así poder comparar los resultados obtenidos en cada una de ellas y comprobar la influencia que tiene la restitución de estos meandros sobre las inundaciones producidas tras la propagación de distintos caudales correspondientes a diversos periodos de retorno. Además, se ha eliminado el azud existente en este tramo del río Genil 13 kilómetros aguas arriba de Écija, dotando de continuidad longitudinal al cauce y eliminando el embalsamiento creado a causa del mismo. Lo cual ha tenido influencia en los resultados obtenidos. Con esto, se pretende defender la restitución de estos meandros presentando unos resultados que son favorables en beneficio del ecosistema que se genera en los márgenes de los meandros y que había quedado perdido, además de reportar beneficios al municipio de Écija reduciendo el caudal punta y el volumen que llega a la entrada del mismo, una vez se han restituido los meandros (aunque este último beneficio no se ha encontrado en todos los períodos de retorno estudiados).

This work consists of the study of meander restitution and the affections it may have regarding the floods that occur in an area at present. For this, a section of the Genil river, located upstream from Écija, where up to 8 meanders have been disconnected from the main channel for various reasons (including the completion of a short cut) has been studied. The channel of the Genil river equivalent to the year 1956 (where these meanders are active) has been modeled, this being the oldest reference available, and it has been used to carry out a flood study of the first 20 kilometers of the Genil river waters above Écija with the current topography. In the same way, an equivalent study has been carried out with the current situation in that area in order to be able to compare the results obtained in each one of them and check the influence that the restitution of these meanders has on the floods produced after the spread of different flows corresponding to various return periods. In addition, the existing dam in this section of the Genil River 13 kilometers upstream from Écija has been eliminated, providing longitudinal continuity to the channel and eliminating the embalming created by it. Which has had an influence on the results obtained. With this, it is intended to defend the restitution of these meanders, presenting results that are favorable for the benefit of the ecosystem that is generated on the margins of the meanders and that had been lost, in addition to reporting benefits to the municipality of Écija reducing the peak flow and the volume that reaches the entrance of the same, once the meanders have been restored (although this last benefit has not been found in all the return periods studied).
