The purpose of this study is to analyse the breakup in single droplets of a liquid jet stimulated by a velocity Gaussian pulse. The aim of the project is to study the influence of both the parameters that define the perturbation applied, and the jet properties themselves (specifically the Weber number), in the jet breakup time and length, and wether that breakup produces a single droplet or satellite. A numerical model will be developed with the software Gerris, in order to reproduce the jet behaviour, as well as some tools that will be of great help in obtaining and interpreting results. Through multiple simulations, several results will be obtained, which will be analysed in detail to establish the relation between the chosen parameters and the jet breakup. The comparison of this results with the theoretical predictions will also prove the numerical model valid. |
