dc.description.abstract | In the design of space missions, wheter they are under the Earth’s influence or focused on deep
space, it is essential to solve an optimization problem in order to minimize the fuel consumption
needed to reach the objetive thus making affordable and financially attractive the exploration and
explotation of the space. Due to the non-linearity of the problem and the amount of variables
involved, it is necessary to proceed step by step, to find a first good solution under certain hyphotesis,
and then analyzing it in detail.
For this first step, the context in which this work is developed, there are different optimization
alternatives. The one which is going to be treated here is the use of genetic algorithms, which
appeared in 1970 and has strongly grown in the space field in the last decade thanks to the computation
developements, offering big advantages compared with other methods. Genetic algorithms are a
tool with an enormous potential which is going to be developed and tested in this document. | es |
