dc.description.abstract | This project has the objective of defining the design of a mixed network AC/DC developing a computer code
in Python language, implemented in the finite element simulation program "FEMM", which solves the
thermal problem of a low voltage underground wire when alternating current and direct current circulate
simultaneously. Then, the electrical power transmitted by the system will be analyzed and optimal design
conditions for maximization will be studied.
To do this, the first step will be the choice of a specific wire model, whose structure will be drawn and whose
properties will be introduced in the program used. FEMM will create a mesh automatically that will be
necessary in order to solve, through finite elements, the thermal problem of the system.
Before applying the idea of mixed networks in the formulated code its validation will be studied by
circulating the maximum admissible intensity for a certain section and measuring the temperature that it
reaches inside of this wire, which should be the maximum operating temperature in continuous service. This
process will also be done by making changes in the design parameters and, therefore, applying the
corresponding correction factors.
After verifying the correct functioning of the programmed code, the idea of mixed networks will be applied
to the system, evaluating the transmitted power and determining the arrangement and intensity, of both direct
current and alternating current, that maximizes the aforementioned power.
Subsequently, a possible application of this technology aimed at the residential sector will be discussed,
concluding with a comparison between mixed networks and the current three-phase network in factors such
as its efficiency or the maximum loads that can be powered by each system. | es |
