Second order error bounds for POD-ROM methods based on first order divided differences
(Elsevier, 2023)
This note proves for the heat equation that using BDF2 as time stepping scheme in POD-ROM methods with snapshots based on difference quotients gives both the optimal second order error bound in time and pointwise estimates.

Multi-issue bankruptcy problems with crossed claims
(Springer, 2021-12)
In this paper, we introduce a novel model of multi-issue bankruptcy problem inspired from a real problem of abatement of emissions of different pollutants in which pollutants can have more than one effect on atmosphere. ...

Birth, transition and maturation of canard cycles in a piecewise linear system with a flat slow manifold
(Elsevier, 2023-01)
In this work we deal with the canard regime as a part of a canard explosion taking place in a PWL version of the van der Pol equation having a flat critical manifold. The proposed analysis involves the identification of ...

Solar combined cycle with high-temperature thermochemical energy storage
(Elsevier, 2021-08)
The present work proposes integrating a high-temperature thermochemical energy storage cycle to boost the solar contribution in solar combined cycles. The main feature of the plant is the possibility of storing solar energy ...

The power of an elector in the Spanish parliament: A study compared with power indices
(SAGE, 2022-01-20)
The main goal of this article is to study, from a game theory perspective, the composition of the Spanish Parliament according to Article 68 of the Spanish Constitution, although the proposed model is applicable to the ...

Hopf bifurcation at infinity in 3D symmetric piecewise linear systems. Application to a Bonhoeffer–van der Pol oscillator
(Elsevier, 2020-08)
In this work, a Hopf bifurcation at infinity in three-dimensional symmetric continuous piecewise linear systems with three zones is analyzed. By adapting the so-called closing equations method, which constitutes a suitable ...

On the influence of the nonlinear term in the numerical approximation of Incompressible Flows by means of proper orthogonal decomposition methods
(Elsevier, 2023-02)
We consider proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) methods to approximate the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. We study the case in which one discretization for the nonlinear term is used in the snapshots (that are ...

Acceptance Ordering Scheduling Problem: The impact of an order-portfolio on a make-to-order firm’s profitability
(Elsevier, 2023-10)
Firms’ growth, the darling measure of investors, comes from higher revenues. Thus, sales and marketing departments make extreme efforts to accept as many customer orders as possible. Unfortunately, not all orders contribute ...

Updating digital twins: Methodology for data accuracy quality control using machine learning techniques
(Elsevier, 2023-10)
The Digital Twin (DT) constitutes an integration between cyber and physical spaces and has recently become a popular concept in smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0. The related literature provides a DT characterisation ...

Design of water quality policies based on proportionality in multi-issue problems with crossed claims
(Elsevier, 2023-12-01)
Water pollutants can be classified into three categories, each of which includes several classifications of substances. In this paper, we present a methodology based on bankruptcy models to determine the emission limits ...
