On the singular braid monoid of an orientable surface
(American Mathematical Society, 2004)
In this paper we show that the singular braid monoid of an orientable surface can be embedded in a group. The proof is purely topological, making no use of the monoid presentation.

A Quasi-Metric for Machine Learning
(Springer, 2002)
The subsumption relation is crucial in the Machine Learning systems based on a clausal representation. In this paper we present a class of operators for Machine Learning based on clauses which is a characterization of the ...

Equimultiple locus of embedded algebroid surfaces and blowing-up in characteristic zero
(Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, 2004)
The smooth equimultiple locus of embedded algebroid surfaces appears naturally in many resolution process, both classical and modern. In this paper we explore how it changes by blowing–up.

Maximal cluster sets on spaces of holomorphic functions
(Oldenbourg, 2004)
This is an expository paper where we relate some aspects of the problem of looking for holomorphic functions with maximal cluster sets under the action of operators defined on spaces of holomorphic functions. Some functional ...

Computational methods in algebra and analysis
(Sociedad Española de Matemática Aplicada, 2007-09)
This paper describes some applications of Computer Algebra to Algebraic Analysis also known as D-module theory, i.e. the algebraic study of the systems of linear partial differential equations. Gröbner bases for rings ...

Interaction potentials from periodic density-functional theory calculations: Molecular-dynamics simulations of Au clusters deposited on the TiN (001) surface
(AIP Publishing, 2005-12)
Molecular-dynamics simulations of gold particles deposited on a TiN 001 surface have been accounted for through classical pair potentials describing the atom force field. The interaction between Ti–N, Ti–Ti, N–N, Au–Au, ...

Multi-group support vector machines with measurement costs a biobjective approach
(Elsevier, 2008-03)
Support Vector Machine has shown to have good performance in many practical classification settings. In this paper we propose, for multi-group classification, a biobjective optimization model in which we consider not only ...

Analytical approach to soliton ratchets in asymmetric potentials
(2005)
We use soliton perturbation theory and collective coordinate ansatz to investigate the mechanism of soliton ratchets in a driven and damped asymmetric double sine-Gordon equation. We show that, at the second order of the ...

Reduction of EEG power during expectancy periods in humans
(Polish Neuroscience Society, 2004)
The contingent negative variation (CNV), and the associated event-related desynchronization (ERD) on motor areas and sensory areas, and increase of alpha in the ipsilateral to the cued stimulus side, are different ...
