Introduction: One of the aspects highlighted in relation to HTA is on its estimated prevalence increase for coming years. Osteopathy can become one of the disciplines able to provide tools for the management of these cases. Objectives: The aim of this systematic review is exposing and analyzing scientific evidence so far for the manipulative methods in the treatment of hypertension. Material and methods: We carried out a literature search in the databases Pubmed, Medline, Science Direct, Elsevier, Cochrane Library, Scielo and Ostmed, using the terms "Hypertension", "Heartbeat", "spine", "stellate ganglion", "sympathetic nervous system", "heart" and "skeletal muscle manipulation". We apply selection criteria (inclusion and exclusion) and choice analysis by title, abstract, keywords and full text. Results: Systematic, retrospective review study, with a sample of bibliographic analysis comprising 32 articles (n = 32) that met the selection criteria in two phases of analysis, which assumes 14.95% items of total found (n = 214) and 23.35% of the articles that met the selection criteria (n = 137) (inclusion and exclusion). Conclusions: A greater number of well-designed trials researching on the effectiveness of osteopathic treatment in arterial hypertension are currently needed. |
