The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) calls for a new undergraduate students role as constructors of their own learning which requires, from the point of view of lecturers, designing and organizing the teaching model on student learning, and in particular, on autonomy competences and personal initiative as one of the key skills to develop in Higher Education. Cooperative learning is a methodology that promotes these competencies through personal and social responsibility. Our contribution describes the initial results of a teaching innovation project in higher education based on cooperative learning pointing out its impact on the development of personal and social responsibility through practical activities in Philosophy of Education and Theory of Education. The first courses are important to implement this methodology because of dropping out and academic failures. We start from the idea that cooperative learning and, by extension, any teaching methodology should not be understood only as a resource to induce different and efficient ways of working students, but also as a tool to promote moral values and ethical behaviors in their learning process. |
