Se mostrarán algunas peculiaridades interesantes de la respuesta electromagnética de este tipo de estructuras In the present work, the transmission and absorption of electromagnetic waves through a given class of metallic periodic structure is studied: the so-called compound gratings. In the present work, the transmission and absorption of electromagnetic waves through a given class of metallic periodic structure is studied: the so-called compound gratings. These structures consist of thick metal slabs periodically perforated with trenches or slits which are distributed with a certain spatial periodicity. a dynamic model is proposed, based on the circuit theory, leading to obtaining the absorption and transmission coefficients of such structures in analytical form. In order to get this result, the electromagnetic fields in the structure are represented as a superposition of propagating and evanescent modes. The lowest order excited modes are represented in the circuit model by means of sections of transmission lines, whci might be propagating or evanescent distributed elements. These modes account for the “dynamic” nature of the model. The effect of the remainig high-order modes is introduced using lumped frequency-independent elements (capacitors and inductors), thus accounting for the quasi-static part of the circuit model. The obtaining of the analytical results involves the summation of infinite numerical series, in such a way that a simple MathWorks-MATLAB script has been written to generate numerical values. The effect of losses has been incorporated to the model by using a simple phenomenological model, which is valid for strong skin effect operation. A number of interesting peculiarities of the electrical response of this kind of structures will be shown |
