Esta propuesta es de carácter feminista, y pretende poner de manifiesto la necesidad de incluir la perspectiva de la discapacidad en los estudios de género, buscando una formulación teóricoconceptual de los derechos de las mujeres con discapacidad, en a los medios de comunicación Dada la influencia que ejerce la comunicación en la opinión pública, ésta ha sido un área estratégica para modificar las relaciones de desigualdad entre hombres y mujeres. El reto de introducir el enfoque de género en la comunicación, como uno de los componentes fundamentales de su democratización, ha sido asumido desde hace tiempo por el feminismo. Quizás hoy gusten de llamarse estudios de género, pero conseguir el derecho de las mujeres a la comunicación, a la información y a la representación como condición fundamental para su plena participación ciudadana sigue siendo una de las reivindicaciones fundamentales del movimiento feminista. Pero en este movimiento y por ende en los medios de comunicación ha habido un grave olvido: las mujeres con discapacidad. La situación de las mujeres con discapacidad en los medios de comunicación es prácticamente inexistente e invisible. Conceptos como discapacidad, diversidad funcional, accesibilidad, integración si están de moda, y son nombrados con frecuencia, pero carentes de género, esta es la gran negligencia de los medios de comunicación hacia las mujeres que hay detrás de cada uno de ellos. |
