Envejecimiento (de tópicos) activo(s) en el cine español de las décadas del “bienestar”

Abstract

A partir de los años ochenta del siglo XX se producen prejubilaciones masivas, consecuencia de la necesidad de reorganización de procesos productivos de empresas y de la reducción de excedentes de plantilla. Por esas mismas fechas, la legislación de los gobiernos socialistas (1982-1996) comienza a fraguar un incipiente y deseado “estado del bienestar”, donde los prejubilados jóvenes con poder adquisitivo aumentan en España; un sector de población con necesidades de ocio y ocupación. La ficción audiovisual fue consciente de ello, pero no de forma igualitaria: mientras el storytelling publicitario y las series de televisión incorporaban personajes “maduros” o “envejecientes” en sus tramas, el cine permaneció prácticamente ajeno a este nuevo perfil de consumidor de ocio audiovisual. Este trabajo analiza algunos de los títulos fílmicos de esa fecha, los perfiles de personajes referidos y su vinculación a la realidad social del momento con objeto de reflexionar sobre su construcción y funcionamiento en el relato fílmico.

From the eighties decade of the twentieth century, mass pre-retirements occur as a result of the need for reorganization in business production processes, and the reduction of surplus staff. At the same time, the legislation of the socialist governments (1982-1996) begins to forge an incipient and much desired “welfare state”, where early retirees with purchasing power increase in Spain; a sector of the population with a need for leisure and occupation. Audiovisual fiction was aware of this, but not in an egalitarian way: While advertising storytelling and television series incorporated “mature” or “aging” characters in their plots, cinema was practically oblivious to this new consumer profile of audiovisual leisure. This work analyzes some of the film titles of that time, the profiles of the referred characters and their connection to the social reality of the moment in order to reflect on its construction and functioning in the filmic narrative.
