Resumen | Since XVIII century, Miocene-Pliocene limestones from Almayate (Málaga) were used in historical buildings of Western Andalusian Heritage. They are sandy bioclastic limestones, with high porosit y and water absorption, and ... Since XVIII century, Miocene-Pliocene limestones from Almayate (Málaga) were used in historical buildings of Western Andalusian Heritage. They are sandy bioclastic limestones, with high porosit y and water absorption, and low mechanical strength. These properties correspond to a low technical quality stone as building material, which should prevent its use for construction. Presently buildings made up of Almayate limestones should be treated with appropiate protective products. |
