Don Juan José de Villalengua y Marfil, presidente de la Real Audiencia de Quito desde 1784 a 1790, siguiendo la práctica habitual entre los indianos que lograron triunfar en América, donó en 1783 un cáliz a la iglesia parroquial de San Juan Bautista de la localidad de Vélez-Málaga, de donde era natural.
