Abstract | La Málaga del siglo XIX experimentó un gran desarrollo de las figuras de
barro de formato reducido con un carácter seriado. Su origen se encuentra en el elevado
interés de los viajeros ingleses por el casticismo imperante ... La Málaga del siglo XIX experimentó un gran desarrollo de las figuras de barro de formato reducido con un carácter seriado. Su origen se encuentra en el elevado interés de los viajeros ingleses por el casticismo imperante en tierras andaluzas, de modo que se convirtieron en verdaderos souvenirs que atestiguaban la visita al lugar. El presente trabajo pretende realizar un acercamiento a la colección de barros que poseyó en su poder el inglés Peter Winckworth a mediados del siglo XX, como inicio de unos vínculos con nuestro país que acabaron con su venta a la antigua Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Málaga. Con esto se favoreció su exposición permanente en el Museo Unicaja de Artes y Costumbres Populares. Málaga in the 19th century experienced a big development of clay figures. They had their origin in the interest of english passengers because of the pure in traditions and festive activities of inhabitants from Andalucía trades. The curiosity caused that clay figures were souvenirs and they proved the visits of places. This work wants to address the important collection about Peter Winckworth clay figures ot the 20th century, like beginning of links with Spain, because for this reason, the antigua Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Málaga could buy to Winckworth this clay figures. Because of this, the clay figures are valued like a artistic typology with permanent exhibitions, as is the case of Museo Unicaja de Artes y Costumbres Populares. |
