In recent years, anthropogenic activity has produced that the amount of generated wastes has gone up. For this reason, European, national and local governments have been promoting new laws and legislations to reduce, reuse and recycle these generated wastes, in other words, to achieve a circular-economy model. The organic fraction represents a high percent of daily household wastes, which is usually processed with biological treatments for its stabilization, being the production of compost from aerobic fermentation one of the most extended alternative. Nevertheless, the organic matter selective collection isn’t a widespread model in Andalusia, so the organic matter is mixed with other improper fractions that finally appear in produced compost. Composition of impropers is extremely variable, a mixture of materials that hasn’t been able to be separated in previous phases, such as glass, small plastic scrap or metal, sandy material, etc. In this conceptual framework is based this work, whose aim is the design of the glass recovery line in a composting plant. By this way, it would be avoided that glass may be mixed with compost in the end, or even worse, it may be landfilled with the rest of rejections, preventing the economic and environmental drawbacks that these facts can lead. |
