The general theoretical development on intellectual disability and the review of existing literature on Down syndrome are the roots that have allowed us to become aware of the improvement need of the education quality in this group of students in a particular way. Our purpose has been to develop an intervention proposal aimed at improving the functioning of a student with this syndrome in an integrative school. Various evaluation instruments have been used within a methodology that is as inclusive as possible. The information has been extracted from various sources: tutor, teacher of Therapeutic Pedagogy, family and herself. The analysis of the results allowed us to select the needs and the most important areas to work at the moment: mathematics, attention and memory. We have considered different playful activities to make the proposal of inclusive intervention, some of which have been carried out in the support classroom in integration. The findings highlight the lack of general knowledge about the benefits of inclusion as the main limitation of this work. A line of future research is proposed to study the possibilities of developing an inclusive educational practice in the next academic stages to be taken by the student. |
