Don Agustín Florencio Hinojosa fue un bandolero de origen noble que asoló la Subbética andaluza y que, al parecer, en medio de una región mayoritariamente leal a Felipe V, mantuvo vínculos con la causa austracista durante la Guerra de Sucesión. De noble cuna y nacido en Jerez de la Frontera, las fuentes, incluyendo pliegos de cordel de la época, lo representan como un individuo cruel y fuera de la ley. Bastan estas palabras del Capitán General para contextualizar el sobrenombre de “terror de Andalucía” con que le retrató la literatura contemporánea: “Este hombre tenía horrorizada toda la Andalucía, amedrentados los pueblos, atropelladas las justicias, y en tal confusión todo este país que no habrá paraje que no haya experimentado los insultos de su atrevimiento. |
