Abstract | La encefalopatía hepática (EH) es un síndrome neuropsiquiátrico complejo
potencialmente reversible que se produce en pacientes con disfunción hepática grave o grandes comunicaciones portosistémicas. Basándose en esto, se ... La encefalopatía hepática (EH) es un síndrome neuropsiquiátrico complejo potencialmente reversible que se produce en pacientes con disfunción hepática grave o grandes comunicaciones portosistémicas. Basándose en esto, se han descrito dos tipos de la misma, asociada a insuficiencia hepática o a inflamación. Dentro de la EH una de las entidades que más dificultades diagnósticas presenta es la encefalopatía hepática mínima (EHM), que es la primera alteración dentro del espectro de manifestaciones clínicas del síndrome de la EH (el 84% de los pacientes cirróticos que desarrollan EH en el seguimiento presentaban EH en el estudio basal). La prueba de la sobrecarga oral de glutamina (SOG) ha demostrado predecir el desarrollo de EH y la mortalidad en pacientes con EHM. |
