Abstract | La lectura es una actividad fundamental para la adquisición de conocimientos, una tarea

movimientos oculares en el proceso lector ... La lectura es una actividad fundamental para la adquisición de conocimientos, una tarea compleja que requiere de un buen funcionamiento del sistema visual del niño, ocupando los movimientos oculares en el proceso lector un papel crucial. El Test Developmental Eye Movement (DEM) fue desarrollado para su uso en la práctica clínica con objeto de evaluar a niños con historial de dificultades en la lectura, de una forma rápida y no invasiva, diferenciando problemas de oculomotricidad y/o automaticidad, además de permitir al clínico un seguimiento del progreso después de tratamiento. El optometrista juega una labor importante en la detección y prevención mediante intervenciones tempranas de problemas oculomotores, permitiendo este test una evaluación objetiva de los movimientos sacádicos. Este trabajo tiene como objetivos la búsqueda bibliográfica y estudio experimental de valoración de movimientos oculomotores sacádicos con test DEM en población superdotada, y estudio comparativo entre niños con diferentes capacidades intelectuales. El niño superdotado es un estudiante con altas exigencias y es necesario ajustar dicha evaluación a sus capacidades. Para ello, valoramos y analizamos movimientos sacádicos con test DEM en 20 niñas de edades comprendidas entre 8 y 11 años, que se agruparon en dos categorías atendiendo a sus capacidades intelectuales. Considerando que haya rendimiento académico acorde a su potencial, nuestros resultados sugieren que un niño superdotado tiene mayor eficacia lectora, detectándose diferencias con los valores del test DEM estandarizados. Esto llevaría a plantearse la siguiente cuestión: ¿el test DEM permite detectar a alumnos superdotados con problemas oculomotores que estén afectando a su rendimiento académico? Debido a las limitaciones de nuestro estudio no podemos determinar si existen diferencias entre test DEM y población superdotada. Es por esto, que todos los datos obtenidos deben tomarse con cautela siendo necesaria una investigación más exhaustiva. |
