Abstract

La "Investigacion en Bellas Artes " es una expresion multívoca. "Bellas Artes" puede significar un centro o institucion universitaria (academia, escuelas, o facultad), y tambien puede significar la pintura, la escultura, el dibujo, el grabado, etc., es decir, las diferentes practicas artísticas. "Investigacion" es Ia actividad propia del conocimiento cientifico, pero tambien se usa en arte para aludir a un proceso o a una obra innovadora o vanguardista. Actualmenre el problema es como desarrollar actividades investigadoras que cumplan dos condiciones: a) que sean reconocidas oficialmente por Ia universidad y, b) que sean interesantes y pertinentes en el territorio artistico. Socialmente hay establecida una clara dicotomía entre Creacion e Investigacion: creacion es el proceso de las artes visuales, e investigación es la actividad de la ciencia. Hay que desarrollar una Metodología de la Investigacion en Artes Visuales, no sabre las artes, que supere este dilema. Sus presupuestos basicos son: a) hay problemas pictoricos o escultoricos objetivos, independientemente de las circunstancias biograficas de los artistas; b) los problemas artísticos es posible definirlos y elaborarlos, llegando a soluciones que hagan avanzar las artes visuales; c) el objetivo fundamental de la investigacion en arte es desarrollar las propias practicas artisticas y no tanto el conocimiento sobre las artes; d) 10s procesos y los resultados de la investigacion en arte son fundamentalmente imageries (cuadros, esculturas, dibujos, grabados, fotografías, etc.).

"Research in Fine Arts" is a polysemic expression. "Fine arts" mean an institution or uni versity center (an academy or a school); and it could also mean the painting, the sculpture, the drawing, the engraving, etc. that is to say, the several artistic practices. Research is the main activity of the scientific knowledge, but iris alse used in fine arts iuordes to allude to a process or to an innovative or avant-garde work. Now the problem is how develop research.in fine arts under twoconditiens: a) research officially recogniced by the university, b) topics, methodologies, conclusions, interesting for the visual arts. There is established a clear dichotomy between Creation and Research. Creation is tbe process of the visual arts. Reserach is the activity of the sciences. One must develop a Research Methodology in Visual Arts, not on visual arts, that overcomes that dilemma. Their basic principles are: a) there are pictorial or drawing problems, wich can be established as a objectives problems, independently of the biographic circumstances of the artists; b) it is possible to define and to elaborate the artistic problems, and arriving to solutions' that they make advance the visual arts; c) the fundamental objective of the research in visual arts is to develop the own artistic practices and not so much the knowledge on the arts; d) the processes and the outputs of the research in visual arts are fundamentally images (paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, photographies, etc.).
