In 1961 it begins to build close to the Place de la Concordia, in the heart of the city, the new Police Headquarters building of Seville. This case became the main representative in the city the use of some technological advances, although widely developed internationally, had not yet joined the local environment late in constructive terms. Ramón Montserrat Ballesté was its author, catalonian architect, key to understanding the advent of modernity to the city in the hard post-war context. Their collaboration in the implementation of the subsidiary Seat in Seville late 50s, designed by the Echaide and Echague architects, was a clear precedent of the building of the Police Headquarters, since it represented a first in the building fully glazed facades in the city. A place with very special features and a peculiar custom, where the image of modernity was a starting premise, make the circumstances giving rise to the project. Its metal frame and system enclosures where through a precise modulation, various elements belonging to the structure are combined, the enclosure and carpentry, compose one, fully homologated new modern architectural image with architectures that barely ten years previously they erected in the United States and northern Europe. The design effort and professionalism of employees, valuable local technicians who contributed their knowledge of calculation and construction, offset the lack of means to achieve a building of great value. |
