Philo of Alexandria and Paulo of Tarso are the two most outstanding representatives of Judaic Hellenistic universalism. This Judaic Hellenistic universalism can be enclosed in the wider frame of the koiné, situation propitiated by Alexander the Great and the Roman Empire. Several trends cooperate to the generation of Philo and Paul's universalism: the Hellenic contribution (essentially stoicism) and the Hebrew one (particularly that outcoming from the sapiential tradition). In Paul's case the element impeller of his universalism is his intrerpretation of Christianism. |
