en ... A raíz de los atentados contra las Torres Gemelas, los musulmanes vuelven a ser actualidad. Desmoronado el sistema soviético, los Estados Unidos buscan un nuevo enemigo del que defender a la humanidad y lo encuentran en el Islam. Sin embargo la imagen que los medios de comunicación dan de los musulmanes no es nueva. Se trata de la recuperación de un viejo estereotipo medieval con algunos retoques colonialistas. Durante la Edad Media y el Renacimiento, surgen las figuras del moro fiero y del moro lascivo. En la época colonial nace la imagen del moro ignorante al tiempo que la lascivia se transforma en la sensualidad de la odalisca y el moro fiero casi desaparece. Tras el 11 de septiembre de 2001, se desvanece cualquier rasgo sexual de musulmán que ahora vuelve a ser el moro fiero, ferocidad que algunos explican por su ignorancia y su resentimiento contra Occidente. |
