Protocolos notariales. Fuentes para el estudio de las crediticias en la Venezuela rural del siglo XIX. El cantón de Güiria, 1841-1884

Abstract

Este trabajo destaca el potencial de los protocolos notariales para comprender los mecanismos de crédito en la Venezuela rural del siglo XIX antes de la aparición de instituciones bancarias. En tal sentido, se limita a los protocolos relacionados con esta actividad económica que se conservan en el Registro Principal de Cumaná, bajo el nombre Mariño, municipio que hoy corresponde al antiguo Cantón de Güiria, marco espacial de este estudio.

East work emphasizes the potential of the notarial protocols to understand the credit mechanisms in the rural Venezuela of the 19th century before the appearance of bank institutions. To this respect, it limits itself to the protocols related to this subject matter that they preserve in Cumaná's Principal Record, under the name Mariño, municipality that today corresponds to Güiria's former Canton, spatial frame of this study.
