The aim of this paper is to study the inscription carved on an epigraphic source (“CIL” II, 159) found in “Ammaia” (Lusitania). It is suggested to interpret as “Q(uirina)” the letter between “nomen” and “cognomen” of “P. Cornelius Q. Macer”. We can not reject this explanation on the basis that Q. would be an unusual abbreviation for “Quirina” in the first century AD in a place like “Ammaia”. If my interpretation proves right, the new citizen was included in the “Quirina” by Claudius before the Flavian dynasty. |
