Se propone estructurar el trabajo en los siguientes capítulos:Capítulo I, Ideas para el manuscrito urbano de Lima: El modelo clásico de ciudad amer icana c. 1535Estudios comprueban que el modelo clásico de ciudad americana, no fue trasplantado de España a América, como tampoco es resultado exclusivo de una de las teorías que han intentado explicar su origen. Todo parece indicar que este modelo fue producto de una serie de experimentaciones, cuyos resultados positivos (que aseguraban la permanencia de la nueva ciudad), fomentados y apoyados por una incipiente legislación, en forma de instrucciones, fueron consolidando el modelo hasta alcanzar su forma casi definitiva con la fundación de Puebla de los Ángeles (1531) y Lima (1535). A diferencia de Puebla, Lima (1535) en la práctica no conservó su plano inicial de modelo clásico de ciudad americana. Y es que aunque se señalen Puebla de los Ángeles (1531) y Lima (1535) como ciudades equivalentes, los contextos histórico-políticos de sus fundaciones son diferentes. Puebla se funda a doce años de la llegada al territorio mesoamericano, y diez años después de la fundación española en Tenochtitlán, símbolo principal de la conquista del territorio. Se buscaba crear un centro urbano español en el camino entre México y Veracruz. Por el contrario, Lima se funda a cuatro años del descubrimiento del Perú (1531), a menos de un año de la simbólica fundación española de la capital Inca del Cuzco (23 de marzo de 1534), en un contexto en el que las ciudades peruanas previas e incluso posteriores a Lima, se fundaban sobre asientos indígenas, y ante la necesidad urgente de controlar la costa.Este capítulo tiene por objetivo presentar la situación en que se encontraba la definición del modelo clásico de ciudad a| |
