This final degree project focuses on the automation of braking distance calculation, based on the models provided by the State Railway Safety Agency according to Resolution 2/2021, using Excel macros. The specified technical model covers trains with initial braking speeds between 10 and 200 km/h and considers a track gradient of up to 35%. It distinguishes between two types of trains: Lambda and Gamma. For Lambda-type trains, braking depends on a variable called brake percentage (ʎ), which will be detailed in this work along with the length of the train. On the other hand, Gamma-type trains depend on their deceleration and the driver's response time. The main objective of this final degree project has been to automate, using Excel macros, the two most relevant models for calculating braking distance for Lambda trains (emergency braking distances under nominal and degraded conditions). To this end, an interface has been developed to facilitate interaction between the user and the software, providing standardized results according to the inputs specified by the user. |
