Vital pulp therapy is a minimally invasive dentistry procedure that seeks to be more conservative in the management of deep caries lesions in order to maintain pulp vitality and thus preserve defensive, proprioceptive function, and pulp sensitivity. This technique has been boosted by the development of bioceramic materials. The objective of this is to learn more about these materials and offer an updated vision of the cavitary study bases for pulp capping. For this, a bibliographic search is carried out in the PubMed database and the articles that meet the established inclusion criteria are selected. The results show the superiority of MTA, Biodentine and the new bioceramic materials over the traditionally used gold standard, calcium hydroxide. On the other hand, the evidence does not seem to justify the use of a cavity base in indirect pulp capping, and the most recommended adhesive technique on bioceramics does not seem clear either. Although the results obtained should be taken into account in the management of pulp capping materials, more long-term studies are necessary to confirm their efficacy and provide relevant information on their use. |
