The Department of Aerospace Engineering at the ETSI in Seville has a laboratory room equipped with several flight simulators used in the practical training of its courses. These simulators provide a powerful learning tool that complements theoretical classes on avionics systems, route planning and navigation aids. Therefore, the department promotes a series of undergraduate or master’s final year projects focused on the development and implementation of different parts of an Airbus A320 simulator, which is more up-to-date and offers better performance than those currently used for teaching. This project aims to document the design and implementation process of a new panel for the simulator under development, expanding the available functions and providing a better experience for the users. The design process is possible thanks to various software tools provided by the University of Seville that help to create computer-based designs of parts and printed circuit boards. This work covers different areas of knowledge, such as digital electronics and manufacturing technologies. The panel developed in this project corresponds to the EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System), which allows the control of primary flight and navigation displays used by the pilot to obtain critical information for the successful performance of the flight. The conclusion of this undergraduate thesis does not mark the end of the work focused on this simulator, but rather a contribution to its development, which still has a significant number of potential improvements and future work opportunities. |
