In the next project, experimentation will be carried out on a desalination unit using reverse osmosis to evaluate the transport mechanisms of the process. This countercurrent unit has an experimental membrane from the manufacturer TORAY, model FO4040. Through experimental tests, the values of the flow rate of water and salts transferred through the membrane will be obtained. These tests will be carried out keeping the pressure constant on both sides of the membrane (it will be corrected manually) while the inlet flow of the currents varies (manually with the frequency converters in the control panel). The objective of this method is to verify how the flow rate affects the transport equations in the membrane. Once the transferred flow rates have been obtained, the permeability of the membrane to water and salts will be determined by theoretical calculation using the transport equations. |
