A steroids are objects of remarkable interest from both scientific and economic perspectives, making asteroid exploration and exploitation missions highly significant. One of the stages of these missions involves the placement in orbit around the asteroid, where it is crucial that the probe describes periodic orbits, thus avoiding impacts or escapes and extending the mission’s duration significantly. This research focuses on identifying these orbits. The impact of the asteroid’s irregular shape on its surrounding orbits will be studied using the Planetary Lagrange Equations. To achieve periodic orbits, a boundary value problem will be solved using two different methodologies: a contour method and a shooting method. A comprehensive analysis and detailed comparison of both approaches will be conducted to find valid solutions. |
