Este estudio se llevó a cabo para analizar las relaciones entre la implicación parental y el control ejercido por madres y padres en los primeros años de la adultez emergente (Tiempo 1, T1) y los síntomas depresivos de hijas e hijos tres años después (Tiempo 2, T2). La muestra estuvo compuesta por 400 adultos y adultas emergentes que participaron tanto en el Tiempo 1 (edad media = 20.31) como tres años después en el Tiempo 2 (edad media = 23.66). Los y las jóvenes respondieron cuestionarios sobre la implicación parental, el control psicológico, el control conductual percibido de sus madres y padres y los síntomas depresivos experimentados. Los resultados revelaron que a mayor control psicológico y conductual en T1, mayor cantidad de síntomas depresivos en T2. Los resultados también indicaron que a menor implicación parental, mayor cantidad de síntomas depresivos en los y las jóvenes en T2. Además, la implicación parental explicó parte del cambio en los niveles de síntomas depresivos entre los primeros años (T1) y los años intermedios (T2) de la adultez emergente. Finalmente, cuando se perciben niveles altos o medios de implicación parental durante los primeros años de esta etapa de la vida, el control conductual en T1 no afecta su nivel de síntomas depresivos tres años después. Sin embargo, cuando se perciben bajos niveles de implicación parental durante los primeros años de este período, el control conductual está vinculado a los síntomas depresivos tres años después. Los hallazgos enfatizan que los niveles de implicación parental y el control ejercido por madres y padres influyen en los niveles de depresión de hijas e hijos durante su adultez emergente. |
