Abstract | La menopausia es un evento fisiológico natural en la vida de las mujeres que representa la transición entre el periodo fértil y la vejez, durante el cual las mujeres experimentan cambios físicos, psicológicos y sociales.

La menopausia es un evento fisiológico natural en la vida de las mujeres que representa la transición entre el periodo fértil y la vejez, durante el cual las mujeres experimentan cambios físicos, psicológicos y sociales. Los criterios STRAW clasifican el envejecimiento reproductivo femenino en tres fases: premenopausia, perimenopausia y postmenopausia. Durante estas etapas, la producción hormonal cambia y las mujeres experimentan síntomas como sofocos, sudores nocturnos, ciclos menstruales irregulares, sequedad vaginal, pérdida de densidad ósea y cambios de humor. Estas manifestaciones se clasifican en tres grupos según la Escala de Evaluación de la Menopausia (MRS), que son: somáticos, urogenitales y psicológicos. El diagnóstico del síndrome climatérico debe fundamentarse en la aparición de síntomas. El tratamiento de estos puede enfocarse de varias formas, la terapia de reemplazo hormonal (TRH), la terapia no hormonal con inhibidores de la recaptación de serotonina (ISRS), medicina natural o cambios en el estilo de vida. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar los beneficios de la actividad física sobre la sintomatología de la menopausia. Para ello se realiza una búsqueda bibliográfica en bases de datos, revistas y páginas webs relacionadas con el tema a tratar, acotándose con palabras claves y criterios de inclusión y exclusión, para así seleccionar aquellos que aporten información relevante y necesaria. Aunque, no existen evidencias claras que demuestren la mejora de signos como la disfunción sexual y el deterioro cognitivo, la conclusión obtenida es que el ejercicio físico presenta numerosos beneficios en la mayoría de los síntomas estudiados y mínimos efectos adversos. Por tanto, esta práctica, puede considerarse una intervención segura y eficaz para aliviar gran parte de las manifestaciones de la menopausia. |
