Fernando Palatín y Garfias (1852-1927) is the most prominent Sevillian violinist of his time, with an important career as a soloist, composer, conductor and teacher. This paper studies the works of art dedicated to the musician, made by well-known contemporary artists, in the Sevillian area and in France. We analize documentary sources and newspaper articles that show Palatín’s popularity, as well as the respect he had earned in the musical environment. Several unpublished paintings and a sculpture are presented. Other works of art that have been previously released, but without delving into their musical iconography and the relationship of various artists and institutions with the Sevi-llian musician, are analyzed in this paper. |
