This Master’s Thesis presents the complete development of a robust, effective, and fully functional tool for solving the operational planning and maintenance scheduling problem of an Eurofighter Typhoon fleet. Although this is purely an academic work, it has been given a more professional perspective to showcase the capabilities of the tool. Therefore, the first part of the document focuses on the background of the tool, while the second part treats the tool as a black box. After conducting a literature review of previous studies in this field, the document presents the evolution of the tool through various mathematical formulations of the problem using Mixed Integer Linear Programming, culminating in its adaptation to the short-term planning. This evolution is driven by changes in the system requirements. Furthermore, all these formulations are exemplified with practical cases to demonstrate the proper functioning of the tool. Lastly, the user is presented with instructions on how to operate the tool and provided with usage tips, ultimately fulfilling the project’s objectives. The integration of this tool will not only result in cost savings but also extend the lifespan of the platform, ensuring maximum fleet availability. |
