This paper focuses on the figure of the Valencian academic Blas Molner (1737 / 8-1812), directorof the Academy of Three Noble Arts and one of the most prominent sculptors of Seville during the Enlight-enment. In the first part, his steps as a drawing teacher at the Real Colegio de San Telmo in Seville (in twodifferent periods: 1787 and 1798-1802) are reconstructed. In the second part, we study four sculptures thatcan be attributed to him on the basis of documentary and/or stylistic evidences. Its analysis demonstrate thelate-baroque character of his figurative production, in contrast to the neoclassical altarpieces that he con-ceived. |
