Matsuri: Los festivales japoneses

Abstract

El término matsuri designa a celebraciones realizadas por todo Japón desde fechas inmemoriales. Debido a su gran recorrido histórico, cada matsuri tiene sus propias características, lo que hace muy difícil comprender globalmente este concepto. La finalidad de esta investigación es analizar qué es un matsuri y el proceso evolutivo que ha sufrido desde sus orígenes hasta la actualidad. Se comenzará realizando una breve investigación de los orígenes de la palabra "matsuri" en los antiguos bronces y sellos pertenecientes a la cultura china. Seguidamente, se analizará las particularidades y los elementos importantes que caracterizan a un matsuri distinguiéndolo de otras festividades cotidianas. También trataremos de estudiar la importancia de las influencias de la religión autóctona y las manifestaciones teatrales dentro de los matsuri, así como los cambios producidos de un matsuri tradicional a uno moderno. Por último, se analizará uno de los matsuri más conocidos de todo Japón, el Gion Matsuri.

The term matsuri designates celebrations throughout Japan since time immemorial. Due to its great historical journey, each matsuri has its own characteristics, which makes it very difficult to understand this concept globally. The purpose of this research is to analyze what a matsuri is and the evolutionary process that it has undergone from its origins to the present. It will begin with a brief investigation of the origins of the word "matsuri" in ancient bronzes and stamps belonging to Chinese culture. Next, the particularities and important elements that characterize a matsuri will be analyzed, distinguishing it from other daily festivities. We will also try to study the importance of the influences of indigenous religion and theatrical manifestations within the matsuri, as well as the changes produced from a traditional to a modern matsuri. Finally, one of the best known matsuri in all of Japan, the Gion Matsuri, will be analyzed.
