Introduction:The term inclusion refers to a situation in which the tooth is retained, surrounded by the pericoronal sac and its intact bone bed. The impacted canine often occurs unilaterally and with a greater predisposition on the right side. These can lead to mechanical, infectious, cystic/tumour and nerve complications. The diagnosis of impacted canines usually occurs in a routine check-up, and the most reliable tests for correct diagnosis and planning are orthopantomography and CBCT. Objectives:The aim of this Master's thesis is to review the literature and its subsequent evaluation of the most recent evidence available to establish the relationship between different distalisation and maxillary expansion therapies and the improvement of canine impaction in patients with mixed dentition. Results:a total of twelve articles were selected, from which relevant data were extracted on the relationship between distalising and maxillary expansion mechanics in the improvement of eruption of the included canine. Conclusions:Distalisation therapy with extraoral anchorage using the Harness (HG) and treatment using rapid palatal expansion have been shown to improve ectopic eruption after rapid maxillary expansion treatment, increasing the rate of successful eruption when coupled with extraction of the primary tooth.Key words:cuspid, canine, bicuspid, uneputed, distalization, molar distalization, herbst appliance, pendulum appliance, traction appliances, dental arch, skeletal anchorage, orthodontic anchorage procedures. |
