Hatsune Miku is nowadays one of the most enigmatic, curious, and famous cultural products that have come from Japan. Denominated as "the pop star that doesn't exist", "the electronic diva", "the eternal singer", "the digital idol" and many other similar analogs, it has raised intrigue in its path and has turned into one of the most characteristic attractions and interests that the world has seen thanks to Japan. With thousands of assiduous fans behind it, VOCALOID and its franchise have not only meant unprecedented innovation within the musical and technological realms but also generated one of the most relevant fans and creative phenomena both inside and outside East Asia. Hatsune Miku and other products belonging to the phenomenon, such as Megurine Luka or Megpoid, opened the door and stimulated many individuals towards the world of music, technology, art, and content creation, forming part of what would be the development and growth of many renowned artists in Japan and internationally. Laying the foundations of many of the practices carried out in digital communities and fan groups, the echoes of this phenomenon continue today, not to mention a large number of questions of philosophical, social, and cultural rigor that leave behind the indiscreet existence of digital singers who will never disappear. This way, and also being one of the events that opened the doors of the previously unknown land of the rising sun to the world, we have considered it an extremely interesting subject from which, without a doubt, analyzing the factors of its notoriety will make us better understand the Japanese peculiarities and their cultural discrepancies when it comes to dealing with phenomena like this. |
