One of the reasons for some students' low performance is their lack of interest in the subject, which may in turn be due to the fact that the material is perceived as not being immediately useful or not applicable in practise. One of the essential factors for achieving real learning is that of making the student perceive new material as useful. Awareness of the usefulness of knowledge should improve the student's motivation, that is, it should generate a favourable attitude in the student towards course content. This change of attitude should make learnig easier and encourage improved academic performance. The aim of this study is to ascertain whether some activities outside the classroom, in this case two series of lectures given by professionals and a case study, can modify the student's attitude. |
