The end of degree project’s object is to develop an optimization method to solve the design of water distribution network. Water distribution networks are very important infrastructures to society to the development of society's daily life as we know it. Due to the population growth of cities, these distributions have to be redesigned and adapted to new water demands. The design of hydraulic systems is a nonlinear problem, and some of its variables are discrete, consequently, they are really complex problems to solve. There are different techniques to face this kind of complex problems like the meta-heuristics which enable satisfactory solutions in short periods of time. The Alperovits and Hanoi networks are object of study in this project. Concretely, we evaluate the quality of the proposed algorithms using these two well-known networks. The algorithms are implemented in Pyhton and the WNTR librarie is used, which allows simulating hydraulic networks. Once a solution is searched, the installation of valves in the network is simulated through EPANET, in order to improve the solution obtained with the algorithm. |
