The aim of this project is the virtual recreation of the aircraft Mil Mi-12 by using CATIA V5 r19, a helicopter whose production started in Russia in 1965, during the Cold War, with military purposes and an aircraft that achieved eight world records, four of which are still current. The first part of the project explains the background of its design, the reason why Russia decided to create such aircraft and some other secondary purposes. Knowing the main goals of the helicopter, there will be a short explanation regarding the design process of the aircraft, as well as the configuration of some preliminary prototypes and, after that, there will be introduced its main characteristics and technical specifications, in order to have a general knowledge about its final design. After that, in this same part, there will be mentioned the records achieved by the aircraft and some of the variants that, although some of them were never carried out, their production was in the mind of the engineers in charge of the project. Additionally, there will be commented everything related to its operational history. Once all the general knowledge about the aircraft has been provided, the following section will be dedicated to the main purpose of this project, the 3D modelling of the Mi-12. In order to do so, there will be an exhaustive explanation about each of the steps taken during the design process with CATIA. The order followed in this section will be the same carried out while modelling the aircraft, both externally and internally. Therefore, with each of the parts in which the Mi-12 has been divided during the design process completely defined, there will be explained the assembly process, which will provide the complete model of the aircraft. It is worth to mention that at the end of the project, there have been shown some rendered photographs of the created model in order to imagine how it would look in the actual world.es
