In the present work, Au-Co bimetallic nanoparticles have been synthesized and characterized, aiming to obtain active catalysts in environmental related processes. First, an exhaustive bibliographic study has been carried out on synthesis techniques of metallic nanoparticles, as well as to know the procedure carried out in this syntheses in order to achieve the objectives of this Project state of the art. In this work, bimetallic nanoparticles have been synthesized using the method of chemical reduction of a metal salt, obtaining a colloidal solution of these nanoparticles (NPs). This method of synthesis of nanoparticles used, thanks to the variations in the reducing / stabilizing agent, has allowed a control not only of the size, but also of the shape and composition of these particles (monometallic, bimetallic or with a core-shell structure). This is a clear advantage over other NPs synthesis methods, both chemical or physical methods. After carrying out the different syntheses of the nanoparticles, these were characterised by different characterization techniques in order to choose the conditions, reagents and proportion of the synthesis to obtain the size and shape designed in this work. Once the nanoparticles have been synthesized and dispersed in a colloidal medium, they were deposited by incipient impregnation method in two different supports (Boron nitride and silicum carbide), to obtain a catalytic system active in reactions of environmental interest such as the oxidation reaction of CO. Catalytic systems have been characterized by different techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) among others. |
