Partner love can be established as a bond of adult attachment. Emotional or psychological abuse are those behaviors that have the intent to emotionally hurt, control, intimidate, do psychological harm, and express anger. On the other hand, marital satisfaction is defined as an overall evaluation of liking-disliking that the individual has of their relationship. Attachment styles have been a variable of interest in the study of psychological abuse and partner satisfaction. This research studies the relationships between attachment styles, psychological abuse inflicted or suffered, and marital satisfaction, through questionnaires with self-report scales such as the revised Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR-R), the Satisfaction Scale in partner (ESP-10) or the Multidimensional Measure of Emotional Abuse (MMEA), in a sample of young people who have or have had a relationship of more than six months. The results showed statistically significant differences both in the psychological abuse inflicted and suffered, depending on the attachment styles, being the safe subjects those that showed lower levels of psychological abuse inflicted or suffered and the rejectionists those that showed higher ranges of both types of psychological abuse. Likewise, significant differences were found in the partner satisfaction depending on the levels of abuse inflicted or suffered and the attachment styles. Of these relationships, it was found that the safe subjects are the most satisfied in their relationships with their partners and the rejecting subjects the most unsatisfied, as well as there is a negative relationship between psychological abuse and partner satisfaction, so that the greater is the abuse suffered or inflicted the less is the satisfaction in the couple. Finally, significant differences were found in attachment styles depending on sex, but no significant differences were found in the psychological abuse inflicted or suffered, or in the marital satisfaction depending on sex. |
