Capital stock is a key factor in the production process and this is a great determinant of economic growth. Therefore, it is important to understand what is the role of capital in the growth of the economy. This study analyzes the evolution of the capital stock in the provinces of Eastern Andalusia (Almería, Granada, Málaga and Jaén) in the period between 2000 and 2015. In this work, in addition to its evolution, its relationship between GDP and employment is analyzed. The results of the study show that the 2007 crisis has led to large capital losses in terms of real GDP and employment in the provinces which have been analyzed. Among these, the case of Malaga stands out, which has been the city facing the crisis with certain measures to a greater investment in capital. It has to be emphasized the importance of material assets in the evolution of capital, due to their great weight in the economy. The public sector is the sector that has the greatest weight in the relation capital to GDP and capital with employment |
