dc.description.abstract | This Master's Thesis, entitled: “Feed The Loop. Development plan of a startup to reduce organic
waste waste”, and corresponding to the University Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering,
proposes the creation of a mobile application, called Feed The Loop, which is aimed at restaurants
and users in Valencia, with a sole purpose: to raise awareness and increase the recycling of organic
waste from our population due to the serious problem that it constitutes for our planet. The idea is
to support restaurants and facilitate the entire recycling process, while facilitating the structure so
that citizens can deposit their organic waste at strategic points in the city. Once they collaborate,
citizens will be awarded discounts at these restaurants for the work shown to our planet.
This project is divided into five parts. In the first place, we made an introduction, establishing a
starting point and a small awareness to the reader of the problem that currently exists with climate
change on our planet. Likewise, the objectives of the project are stated.
Second, a thorough investigation of the problem is conducted, as well as its root causes. The
consequences of climate change on our planet are dictated, and to a large extent, those caused by
the subject to be dealt with in this project: organic waste. The possible causes of the absence of
recycling of organic waste are established, unlike what happens with other materials such as plastic
and an arbitrary survey of citizens is carried out to verify these causes, in which they highlight a
lack of awareness and knowledge about the harmful effects of organic waste in landfills, a lack of
infrastructure to collaborate and a lack of motivation.
Third, a competitive market analysis is carried out, where we investigate which companies execute
something similar to the preliminary idea proposed by Feed The Loop and how we could add value
to the market. In addition, through a SWOT analysis, the strengths, threats, opportunities and
weaknesses of the project are established.
Fourth, the complete Feed The Loop plan is developed. It explains what the complete idea of the
project consists of, as well as its business model, sources of income, what initial strategy will be
implemented to achieve the established objectives, a financial draft and the technologies and
investments necessary to carry out the project, Among which is a design of the interface and the
operation of the application, with the aim of “landing the idea” as much as possible.
Finally, to finalize this project, the conclusions are established, as well as ideas that may be carried
out in the future of the project. In short, Feed The Loop is an idea that does not currently exist on
the market that could bring great value to restaurants, consumers and the environment, helping in a continuous fight against climate change. | es |
